Put the plastic to work!

Created in 2022, TORRE PLSTIK is a project that transforms discarded plastic packaging into skateboards and other reusable objects , promoting the circular economy and environmental sustainability.

The skateboards produced are available free of charge to the entire community and to those who frequent the Torre skate park, making the sport more accessible and at the same time contributing to the reduction of plastic waste .

Our Goal

  • Democratize access to sport;
  • Raise awareness in the local community about the impact of disposable plastic;
  • Offer circular and environmentally friendly alternatives;
  • Involve residents and visitors in the plastic transformation process.

How it Works

The Creative Recycling Unit is installed in the skatepark of the Torre neighborhood, in Cascais, inside an old cargo container painted by local artist Carlos Stock (Kiã) .

In this unit, the community is invited to participate in all stages of production of:

  • Skateboards
  • Beach rackets and ping pong
  • Other objects created from recycled plastic

From Packaging to Skateboard:

  1. Type 2 and 5 plastics are collected (such as bottle caps and detergent and shampoo packaging);
  2. The material is cleaned, crushed and melted in molds;
  3. Plastic takes on new life in useful, long-lasting objects.

Each skateboard reuses between 1.4 kg and 3.5 kg of plastic , helping to reduce environmental impact in a creative and participatory way.

How to Participate

Workshops at the Recycling Unit

The workshops at Torre's skatepark offer a practical and collaborative experience :

  • Participants follow the entire production process — from crushing the lids to molding the boards;
  • They can create their own skateboards in a creative and fun way;
  • At the end, they have the opportunity to test the product on site .

Workshops in Schools and Events

We took the project to schools and events , making recycling accessible to more people :

  • Explanation and demonstration of the plastic transformation process;
  • Possibility of customizing and finishing previously produced boards;
  • Test the skateboards for a complete experience.

Open Community Experience

The parts produced at the Recycling Unit — including skateboards — are available for free use by residents and visitors to the Torre skatepark.

In addition, we organize events open to the community , with live music and various activities, where everyone can:

  • Try skateboards and other recycled products;
  • Get to know the plastic transformation process up close;
  • Participate in a moment of conviviality and environmental awareness.
